Selective Service registration is available at Logan View High School.  Under Federal Law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.  However, Selective Service now accepts early submission of registration information by 17-year-old men, so they are automatically registered when they turn 18.  Information can be obtained in the counseling office.

Apply to College Recap

Apply to college was an amazing time for junior and senior students to visit with various colleges, Army, Navy and Marines. This event was held during the morning of October 18, 2022. In addition to the college and military reps, seniors were able to sign up to listen to a session on scholarship tips, interviewing skills/resume writing and creating an electronic portfolio.  There were over 50 students who participated by attending a variety of sessions throughout the morning.

Financial Aid/College/Military and Business Information Night

On Monday, October 17 over 35 families of sophomore, junior and senior students participated in the evening event.  Four FAFSA applications were completed, and 28 families attended the FAFSA presentation.  Attendees enjoyed being able to receive information and ask questions from a variety of colleges, military branches and businesses.  If you missed this event, you are in luck, a similar event will be held in early spring.  Be watching for more information.

Dean Jacobs – Dream Big, Live Tall, Make the World Better

A special assembly was provided to the 7-12 grade students at Logan View on Tuesday, October 25, thanks to the Fremont Area Community Foundation, Inc.  The Logan View School district received a grant to bring in Fremont native, local author, Dean Jacobs, to present a program entitled “Discover Your Why, Become the Change”.

Dean’s presentation took the students on a wonderful journey, through the eyes of Dean, to 28 countries around the globe.  During his travels, he discovered the “Seven Wonders of Humanity: Dignity, Respect, Humility, Curiosity, Generosity, Gratitude, and Kindness”. His goal was to inspire, provide hope, establish a safe and entrusted environment for our students so they can become empowered to become more involved in their community and become the best version of themselves.

Juniors and seniors completed a short writing workshop with Dean to help them through the process of setting goals and identify what they need to be doing now and what they will need to do tomorrow to help make those dreams become reality.  Dean challenged our students to come up with five things they could do today to help make the world better each and every day.

Dean’s final words for the students included information about how students can receive help to help others, through the Youth Philanthropy Grants Program.  Visit the Fremont Area Community Foundation’s website to learn more about this exciting opportunity at https://www.facfoundation.org/community-involvement/youth-philanthropy-grants.html or call 402-721-4252
