student standing around an ofrenda

On Tuesday, November 1 the Logan View Spanish Club hosted a celebration for el Día de Muertos. After school, there were craft stations which included papel picado, face painting, cempasúchiles, a photo booth and portaretratos. There was a collective ofrenda full of photos of loved ones, admired ones and friends that have passed on with candles, marigolds, and food to guide the way.  They served taco plates with options of birria, carnitas and al pastor with horchata and agua de jamaica to quench some thirst. With tummies full and faces painted, people headed to the lecture hall with popcorn, sweets and soda to enjoy a showing of “Coco” on the big screen. Mrs. Leinart and the Spanish Club want to thank everyone for coming to our celebración and we hope to see you next year!
