The proposed budget and tax levy for the 25-26 fiscal year requires the district to send pink cards to each property owner within the district. The reason for these cards being sent this year is that the proposed budget and tax rate asks for an increase beyond the 2% + real growth calculation mandated by LB 644. The image below shows the spreadsheet we are required to use to determine if our tax request will exceed the limitations. For Logan View, the allowable growth from last year to this year equals 3.07%. In dollars and cents, this is equal to $217,690.91. The proposed tax request asks for $403,291.
As you all know we ran a bond election in March of 2025. That ballot initiative was not successful. One component of the facility improvement project that was included in the bond issue is a reconfiguration of the main entrance to the high school. This reconfiguration addresses critical security vulnerabilities. The increase in the tax asking plus money in the special building fund will move this portion of the facility project forward, separate from the larger project and other needs the original facility has. The board of education will consider an action item to move the secure entrance project forward at their regular meeting scheduled for September 8, at 8:00 pm.
If you have an questions about the need for the increased tax request please contact me at ctaylor@loganview.org or (402) 654-3317.
