Week 6

Cross County Invite (Cancelled - Weather)

On Jan 12. The Logan View wrestling team was supposed to be traveling to Cross County high school but mother nature had other plans as most of Nebraska saw blizzard conditions with area’s getting 15+ inches of snow and bitterly cold temps. Travel was impossible. So the team got to stay home, stay warm and spend some quality time with their families. When looking at situations like this we tend to think how inconvenient this is to our busy lives and shutting us down. However, it gives us time to just sit and be, recover, & self-reflect. Sometimes we forget how valuable that extra day off and out of routine can be. The job of school, and wrestling will be there when the weather subsides. We had also gotten reports that a few members of the team had spent some hours being humanitarian to their communities and helped dig out driveways, & get cars unstuck from various places. The weather really showed how much a community depends on each other. Our wrestling team was there when called upon, to help people in the Logan View area.

Week 7

Oakland JV Meet (Cancelled - Weather)

On Jan 15. The Logan View JV wrestlers were stuck at home still due to the aforementioned weather above.

Madison Invite (Cancelled - Weather)

On Jan 19. The Logan View wrestlers were again stuck at home due to another round of snow. Something called a “Squall” that mostly the great lake areas in the upper midwest are familiar with apparently. The storm produced another 3 inches of snow and fast winds that ended up blowing shut roads from the previous storm.

Capitol Conference Tournament

On Jan 20. The Logan View wrestlers were finally able to get out of their comfy homes and get to a competition. They traveled to DC West for the conference tournament that featured the 9 conference schools including Logan View. Logan View finished in 3rd place after leading the tournament after the semifinals. The Raiders were able to push 6 individuals into the finals of the tournament and were the only medalists of the day. Syracuse ended up winning the tournament championship with 171 points. Raymond Central was the runner up with 147.

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

Braydon Wobken (Senior at 215lbs)

(Wobken Quote) - (“Gold medals aren’t made of gold. They are made of sweat, determination, and hard work”)

(Streeter's Comments) - Braydon has been a consistent piece of this program for what seems like a long time now. He started the year at 190lbs and transitioned up to 215. He has been a little banged up this season as a result from a football injury so he’s had to battle some real uncomfortability this year. He has handled it very well. He looks poised to get back onto the medal stand in Omaha again this year. As it is with high achievement, earning high honors doesn’t come without consistent preparation, goal setting and discipline. As we near the end of the season I’m looking forward to Braydon turning it up even more.
