NHS Application Information

What is National Honor Society?

National Honor Society is a nationwide association dedicated to promoting academic excellence and fostering qualities of character, leadership, and service. Membership is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a student.

NHS is based on four pillars that represent what we stand for:

  • Scholarship- Earning, and maintaining, a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • Leadership- Active and engaged leadership in school and community activities

  • Character- Academic honesty, a good work ethic, and kindness toward others

  • Service- Volunteer to help or assist others without the expectation of reward or payment

Each year, members will have the opportunity to help give back to the community. We help with doing highway trash pick-up, recycling around the school, and various clothing and food drives.

Attendance at monthly meetings, held at 7:45 a.m. or Raider Time is mandatory.

Application Process

  • Part 1 – Complete the online application form

  • Part 2 – Complete the personal essay

  • Part 3 – Request letters of reference

It takes time and effort to complete this process. Do not wait until the last minute! Treat this as a college or job application and remember that how you present the material reflects on you. When asking for your letters of recommendation, make sure you provide enough time for the individuals to write their letter.

In order to be eligible to apply, at the end of second semester of the school year, your weighted, cumulative GPA must be a least a 3.5. These students must also have been in attendance at Logan View for at least one semester.  Completing an application process does not automatically mean that the student will become a member of NHS.

Application submission due date - October 8, 2024

Service Activities

The pillar of service can be reached in a variety of ways. The willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without compensation or recognition of any kind is a quality that is essential in NHS members. As a service club, the National Honor Society is highly concerned with giving its all to the school and community at large.
