Dual Credit
Participating in dual credit coursework enables students to complete courses needed to meet high school graduation requirements while at the same time earning college credits applicable toward an eventual degree program. Dual credit coursework serves to challenge students at a level not normally found in general high school courses. Dual Credit courses are available for Juniors and Seniors only.
Dual credit courses will be taught by a staff member in a traditional classroom setting. MCC content and objectives will be covered as part of a regular high school course with students completing additional work/reading in order to earn college credit; high school class enrollment is not limited to college enrollees only.
METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDE ACADEMIC TRANSFER CREDIT TO MANY FOUR YEAR INSTITUTIONS.
Students registering for dual credit courses will be responsible for payment of all tuition costs. Logan View High School will purchase textbooks and materials (if any) necessary for the courses. Tuition is $50 per class for all dual credit classes taught by any Logan View faculty member.
In order to quality for dual enrollment classes, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better and attain a minimum score as designated by the college, on the ACT or ACT Aspire or Pre-ACT tests.

A word of caution regarding the dual credit courses. Completion of dual credit coursework can prove to be an enormous benefit to high school students in terms of providing academic enrichment and giving students a head start on college work in a relatively economical fashion. But dual enrollment coursework requires students to complete work at a college performance level (grade of ‘B’ or better to transfer credit). That should prove to be a beneficial challenge for most students and will help to ensure that their final months of high school are spent productively preparing for post-secondary study.
