Logan View Public Schools Establishes a TeamMates Mentoring Chapter

Logan View Public Schools serves youth in four communities including Winslow, Nickerson, Hooper and Uehling.  Logan View will join communities across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Wyoming in an effort to provide mentors for youth in grades three through twelve.  “We are very excited to launch TeamMates Mentoring in Logan View. The strong school and community support is evident from the work being done locally to establish the TeamMates chapter” stated Sue Kennedy, TeamMates Regional Coordinator, who facilitated a local board training on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

Superintendent Jeremy Klein states, "Having had prior experience with TeamMates in other schools, I am confident that the program will have a positive effect for our students.  We know that all students can benefit by the addition of one more caring adult in their lives and I am thrilled that Logan View Public Schools will have the opportunity to partner with TeamMates for the benefit of all of our students."

The TeamMates of Logan View program will begin mentoring students in the 4th grade who attend Logan View Public Schools and have established a goal of 30 matches for the 2017-2018 school year.

The TeamMates Mentoring Program was founded in 1991 by Tom and Nancy Osborne to provide support and encouragement to youth.  In this school-based mentoring program, mentors come to the school one visit per week, during the school year, and meet with a student.  Mentors can play games, talk, work on projects, etc.   TeamMates Mentors provide a sense of hope and vision to young people, with a mission to help them reach their full potential.  Today, through TeamMates, approximately, 8000 youth are being mentored one visit per week at their local school by adult volunteers.

The launch of TeamMates Mentoring at Logan View will be held on Tuesday, January 16.  DeMoine Adams will be visiting with students and staff in the afternoon and will be attending the games against Arlington that evening.
Mentors will be recognized that evening.
