Selective Service registration is available at Logan View High School.  Under Federal Law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.  However, Selective Service now accepts early submission of registration information by 17-year-old men, so they are automatically registered when they turn 18.  Information can be obtained in the counseling office.

Juniors…start researching colleges

If you narrow your college choices by the end of your junior year, your senior year will be less stressful. Here’s how to get started:

Review College Profiles at EducationQuest.org to learn about colleges in Nebraska and across the country. If you’re interested in an out-of-state school, check out the Midwest Student Exchange Program to learn about tuition discounts.

Check out the EducationQuest Virtual College Fair. The live fair is over, but you can still register and log in to visit college booths and watch recorded college-prep sessions.

Once you narrow your choices, schedule campus visits. Try to visit in the spring of your junior year while colleges are in session. Click here to find links to virtual campus visits.

For more tips, see the Finding the Right Fit section at EducationQuest.org.

New timeline breaks college planning into manageable tasks

EducationQuest has launched a new web-based interactive College Timeline for students in grades 9-12 that spells out steps they should take during fall, winter, spring, and summer to plan for college.

The Timeline is interactive in that it allows students to add their own tasks, get reminders when it’s time to complete tasks, and check off tasks when they’re complete. Students can access these features by creating and/or logging into their MyEducationQuest account at EducationQuest.org.

Check it out! It should make the college planning process less overwhelming by breaking it into manageable tasks.
