My name is Diane Hanel and I joined the Raider staff in the fall of 2016. Previously I taught business classes and coached for eight years in Jefferson, South Dakota; Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Omaha North High School in Omaha, Nebraska.  An additional 15 years were spent at Northeast Community College, where I was the advisor/instructor and supervisor for students in the Administrative Professional Program.  I received my Bachelor’s in Business Education, and a Master’s in Secondary Counseling from Wayne State College.

Here at Logan View, my duties will include helping students reach their potential in all areas of academic, career, social/emotional, and personal development.  In addition, I am the National Honor Society advisor.  My goal for the upcoming year will be to improve my communication with faculty, staff, students and parents through the use of multiple technology tools.

I grew up in Hampton, Nebraska, where my father was the school superintendent for 37 years. We spent summers taking vacations and by the age of 16 I had visited 45 of the 50 states.  This created a passion for traveling and excitement  of learning about other cultures. When I graduated high school I continued to travel and participated in the Lions Club Student Exchange Program, where I spent the summer traveling to Belgium, Holland and France.  Traveling is still a big part of my yearly events and I continue to add more countries to my list.  My most recent excursion took me to Greece where I spent a couple of days touring Athens, living in a villa on the Island of Crete and visiting Santorini Island. My next journey will take me on Alaskan cruise and a touring excursion through Europe.

My family includes my husband, a son and daughter who live and work in Norfolk after graduating from Northeast Community College, and a daughter who will be a freshman at Wayne State College, pursuing a degree in Social Sciences Education and is a member of the Aristocats Dance Team. When I am not vacationing, I enjoy spending time at home with my husband, enjoying the outdoors and visits from my granddaughter, who will be a kindergartner at Logan View.
