FCCLA Elects Officers for 2010

by Lois Krohn

April 10, 2010

What do a stapler, post-it note, band-aid, lotion and key chain have to do with leadership? Candidates for 2010-11 chapter officers drew an item and had one minute to compose a speech as to how that item relates to leadership, which is an important component of FCCLA.

Elections for the Logan View FCCLA Chapter were held March 5 and 8. Officer candidates completed a three-phase election process: application, adult panel interview, and the one-minute item speech given to chapter members. "All of the speeches were amazing," said sponsor Lois Krohn. "I commend the candidates for their critical thinking and creativity."

Officer candidates were: Jared Clark, Brooke Ellerman, Elliot Janssen, Emily Mauch, Kaliegh Nemec, Austin Peterson, Dex Ranslem, Jake Ranslem, Marisa Ruwe and Abby Stollberg.

Abby Stollberg will be the 2010-11 president. Her executive board members will be: Jared Clark, Brooke Ellerman, Elliot Janssen, Kaliegh Nemec, Austin Peterson, Jake Ranslem, and Marisa Ruwe.

"The election was so close since all candidates were qualified and did an excellent job," Krohn said. Krohn also thanked members of the interview panel: Mrs. Sharon Rief, Mrs. Renee Wagner, Mr. Duane Carlson, and Mr. John Strand.

Additionally, Brooke Ellerman ran for and was elected to the State FCCLA officer position of Secretary. State officer candidates also complete an in-depth application process, including delivering a speech to the FCCLA State Conference delegation and preparing for a test over the components of FCCLA. Ellerman was encouraged and supported in her campaign effort by outgoing 2009 state officer Kendra Bloch.

Fremont Bergan student Patrick Collgan is the State President Elect.
