Six FCCLA STAR competitors earned the honor to compete at the State Conference in Lincoln on April 11, 12 and 13. All returned to Logan View as either state champions or as runner-ups in their categories. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. State qualifiers had won their divisions at the District STAR event hosted by Logan View in February.
Abby Stollberg, Marisa Ruwe, and Kaleigh Nemec received the State Championship in the Interpersonal Communication Senior category. They developed a communication system designed to strengthen communication within their girls basketball team. They presented a speech about their communication project and also gave an impromptu speech in response to a communication problem given them at the competition.
Austin Peterson was the Runner-Up in the Promote & Publicize FCCLA category. He developed a promotion and publicity campaign to raise awareness of the Logan View FCCLA chapter. He compiled a portfolio and presented not only a speech but also a video commercial that he made.
Kayla Bendig and Elliot Janssen competed in the Illustrated Talk Junior category. They received the Runner-Up award for their research and speech about the concern of “Sugar Overload”.
