District Prepares for a Quality Assurance Review

Rochelle Clausen

March 12, 2010

On March 16 and 17 Logan View Public Schools will host an external visitation team. It's members, professional peers from other districts, are conducting a Quality Assurance Review (QAR). The team will be meeting with groups of students, teachers, administration, parents, and community members.

The primary purpose of the review is to provide the school with impartial, objective insights and feedback to enhance the school’s ongoing improvement efforts. The review team will:

  1. Evaluate the school’s adherence to the AdvancED quality standards
  2. Assess the efficacy and impact of the school’s improvement process
  3. Assess the effectiveness of the school’s methods for quality assurance
  4. Identify strengths deserving of commendations and provide recommendations to improve the school
  5. Make an accreditation recommendation for state and national review

Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools. The goal of accreditation is to evaluate, verify and improve an institution’s quality.

To be accredited, schools must meet high standards, engage in continuous improvement, and demonstrate quality assurance through an external review.
