Oct. 22 Wisner-Pilger, Scribner-Snyder
I was more than pleased with the effort the girls showed on Thursday. We have been fighting an effort battle for a few weeks now and I truly think we have worked it out. There where very few balls that came over the net that didn’t at least get a finger on them. The kind of effort the Lady Raiders put forth on both games should make us much tougher to play come districts. The Lady Raiders play a heck of a game when they are having fun and playing loose. One major fix is we do need to sharpen up on our first pass. The Gators and the Trojans hurt us a couple of times with some point runs of the serve. If we can minimize those 5-7 point runs into 2-4 point runs, we will be able to keep our games a little closer and hopefully give us a better chance at a win. Being able to refocus after an error will dictate how we finish our season. I thought the highlight for the night was the turnaround in our blocking, which was very present in both games. I am very proud of the girls for their continued effort in adversity. We have had a lot of youth step up and play in some key roles. We have also had a wonderful group of seniors who have been stepping up in great ways in practice and in games. They’ve become great leaders and role models for the freshmen.

Wisner-Pilger stats are on the left; Scribner-Snyder are on the right.

Oct. 6 versus Lyons Decatur
Loss
12-25, 13-25, 10-25
We had some trouble setting points against Lyons in the second and third sets. We continue to make unforced errors. Aside from that, I felt we played a great defensive game. Kalie Einspahr led the team with 15 digs, Karli Havekost with 12 digs, and Morgan Hagerbaumer had 11. Abby Stollberg had 12 assists. Karli Havekost: 5 kills; Kali: 3 kills; Jodi: 2 kills.

Oct. 3 Bennington Invitational
versus Bennington 0-2; Yutan 0-2; North Bend Central 0-2. 0-3 on the day.
The lady Raiders fought Bennington until late in the first set, when Bennington was able to get a little run in. Errors were a killer on Sat. Without unforced errors, we looked pretty good. The girls were allover the court not letting anything touchthe floor. The little improvements being made every day are dramatically changing the skill of the team for the better. We will face North Bend Central more times this season, and I am looking forward to those games.
For the day ... Karli: 13 kills, 2 aces, 51 digs; Kali: 7 kills, 53 digs; Kaitlin 14 kills, 5 aces; Abby: 33 assists; Jodi: 2 kills

Oct. 1 versus Wayne
Loss
15-25, 22-25, 16-25
We came ready to play Wayne. The girls never gave up and looked like they could take control of the set at any time. In the second set we came out early with a 5-point strt but were unable to hold on to it.
Kaitlin Scholl: 2 kills, 2 blocks, 14 digs; Abby Stollberg: 18 assists; Kali Einspahr: 7 kills, 14 digs, 2 ace serves; Jodi Popken: 4 kills; Karli Havekost: 6 kills, 4 aces, 24 digs.

Sept. 24 Versus Brownell Talbot
Win
25-22, 25-15, 19-25, 19-25, 15-11
The team played a completely different game from our last two contests. The ladies came out with an excitement for the game. They played relaxed and focused and, most important, had fun. It was nice to see them working hard and still being able to carry a smile. I feel we brought back a needed piece of our team dynamic.
Kaitlin Scholl: 13 kills, 3 aces, 18 digs; Taylor Anderson: 18 digs; Kali Einspahr: 4 kills, 32 digs; Jodi Popken: 7 kills, 3 aces; Abby Stollberg: 18 digs, 30 assists; Karli Havekost: 8 kills, 6 aces.

Sept. 22 versus West Point
Loss
14-25, 17-25, 7-25
Still having the taste of defeat from the weekend, I don’t feel we were ready to play the Cadets. Once we start playing to win instead of playing not to lose, the Lady Raiders will be a powerful team. We started offensively but let unforced errors dictate the score. Playing an offensive, downhill game will be the key to winning on Thursday.

Sept. 19 Logan View Booster Club Volley Tournament
Format: 4 team round robin (3 sets/game)
Versus Homer 21-25, 19-25
Versus Omaha Bryan 9-25, 17-25
Versus Yutan 21-25, 12-25
Versus Omaha Bryan 22-25, 20-25
Versus Omaha Bryan 7-25, 14-25
Versus Yutan 17-25, 16-25
It was a tough weekend for us. We thought we’d be able to get a few wins but faced very tough teams. This weekend we got a great view of where we need to be and what we need to do get there. We play Tuesday night at West Point.

Sept. 15 versus Pender
Win
18-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-18
The Lady Raiders got off to a rocky start. got into the swing of things during the third set. Once we settled down and started playing a more focused, controlled game, we were able to spread the score a little. Abby Stollberg had 23 assists on the night, Karli Havekost led the team with 10 kills, followed by Kaitlin scholl with 7, and Kali Einspahr and Jodi Popken with 6 each.

Sept. 12 North Bend Central Tourney
Versus Scotus: Loss; 11-25, 10-25
Although Scotus lost seniors, they have an excellent group of girls this season. We were able to keep it close early in both set, be we got caught in a few point runs that put the game out of the reach. The girls played both sets very confidently, working hard until the very last point.
Versus Raymond Central: Win; 25-13, 23-25, 25-19
The Raiders were definitely ready to play and beat RC in the first set. We got lax in the second set but were able to focus and finish the third.

Sept. 8 Versus Tekamah-Herman
Loss
25-23, 21-25, 16-25, 16-25
The Lady Raiders played an outstanding game. Kaitlin Scholl led the team with 16 kills. Abby Stollberg had 22 assists and 3 kills. Outstanding play by all girls on the squad, but unfortunately we let the game get away from us in the third and fourth sets. Keeping our composure during opposing scoring runs and cutting runs short will be the key to winning this weekend at the North Bend Central tourney.
