Logan View Team Places 6th at Academic Decathlon Regionals

Logan View placed 6th in the USAD small school division at a regional Academic Decathlon competition held Jan. 16 at Midland College in Fremont. The team brought home a total 18 medals. 

All individuals on each of two LV teams completed 10 multidisciplinary events about the  topic of the French Revolution.  Events included multiple-choice exams, essays and speeches.

Team One members included: Leah Harmon, Adam Kruger, Jake Kment, Tanner Kremke, Alex Liston and Cody Welttikol. Team Two members included: Brittany Epperson, Nate McCormick, Marisa Ruwe, Jordan Schueter and Abby Stollberg. 

Students who received individual medals at regionals are listed by the events in which they medaled. Their scores were among the top three from all the competitors in the discipline event.

ART: Brittany Epperson and Marisa Ruwe were each awarded silver medals, and Nate McCormick earned a bronze.

ECONOMICS: Brittany Epperson earned a gold medal.

LANGUAGE & LITERATURE:  Marisa Ruwe was awarded a silver medal. Brittany Epperson, Cody Alex Liston, Jordan Schlueter  and Cody Welttikol each received bronze medals.

MATH:  Leah Epperson and Jake Kment each earned gold medals. Brittany Epperson and Alex Liston each earned silver medals. Jordan Schueter earned a bronze.

MUSIC:  Abby Stollberg received a bonze medal.

SCIENCE:  Brittany Epperson and Abby Stoollberg each earned silver medals.

Team coach Sharon Rief said that had a combined teams total points standing been among the top three in the small schools division, Logan View would have proceeded on to state competition. At state, all teams compete against one another without regard to school sizes, and the top-ranked team in the state then proceeds to nationals.
