Fifth Grade Economics

October 29, 2009

Curt Ott, with First National Bank Northeast, gave fifth graders some elementary economics lessons on Oct. 29.

A Logan View graduate, Ott spoke about savings accounts, certificates of deposit (CDs), and how you can earn interest on the money that you save in the bank.

Ott also spoke to the students about the differences between debit and credit cards. He helped the students understand the differences between wants and needs and helped them begin thinking about the value of money.

He gave each student a pencil, pen and notepad.

The students will use this information to assist them in preparing for an upcoming assessment about economics.
