¡El Encierro! Spanish I Students Run With the Bulls
May 20, 2009
Spanish I students learned about the Running of The Bulls in Pamplona, Spain, which takes place each year beginning on July 7. After students researched several Spanish-speaking countries and shared their information with their classmates, they were prepared for the Annual Running of the Bulls, or ¡El Encierro!. Although the students didn´t do any actual running, their minds did. Students had to answer questions in order to avoid a bull´s charge each day. Students answered questions about history, geography, famous people, art, culture, and business.
Luz Najera won in Español I – 7 and Cristina Kali Einsphar won in Español I – 4.
“The competitions were very tight going down to the wire, which means the students really knew their information,” commented Spanish Teacher Stephanie Iwan Flamme.
